indigo dyed hand-bound nature journal

$ 42.00

*SMALL BATCH* only two available in each color.

I made myself one of these journals to be my "greenhouse journal" and loved it so much I made a small collection for my shop.

This book is meant to be used. When we have beautiful things made by hand, we are more likely to use them in a meaningful way. I begin by hand-tearing soft white, unlined, acid-free, 80# text paper that is ideal for drawing and writing with pen or pencil. The exposed spine stitching allows the book to lay flat when it is open.

Each book contains 116 pages and measures 5 x 6.5".  The  journal is covered in nature drawings by my dear friend, Joan Wenske. The drawings are printed on cotton fabric that I dyed with indigo from last season’s dye garden and I embellished the branch on each cover with plant-dyed sashiko thread. The back side of the journal is covered in plant-dyed organic cotton/hemp fabric (ochre, pink, red, and terracotta) that matches the pop of color on the front. Each book comes in an indigo-dyed drawstring bag for safe keeping.
